Dr. Angela Hahn earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from Stanford University and BS in Biochemistry from Beloit College. In addition to her publications, she received a patent for live-cell biosensor polypeptides and earned a postdoctoral research fellowship on myelination research at the University of California, San Francisco. Though she found bench science intriguing, she decided that teaching provided her with just the right challenge. With 10+ years of teaching experience at the middle school through college level, Dr. Hahn has taught upper school Biology, Chemistry, Evolution and Public Health and Human Disease project-based electives at BASIS Independent School and Friends Seminary in New York, and most recently at Morristown Beard School in New Jersey. When Dr. Hahn has some free time she enjoys hiking, painting, sewing, and spending time with her super cat, Stanley.

Fiona Williams is a first year student at Howard University with a major in Chemistry and strong interest in Education studies. Aspiring to pursue a career in science education, Fiona would like to empower girls interested in STEM and contribute to a field that needs more female representation. For the past four years, she has worked with supporting second-graders at her local church’s religious education program. A natural leader and proponent for student voice, she recently graduated from Murrow High School in Brooklyn, NY and served as the senior class president for her school’s student government.

Fiona Williams
Student
Na Fan has over 12 years of teaching experience in Mandarin and ESL instruction, ranging from Kindergarten to 10th grade. She has also served as the Director of two Mandarin-English immersion schools in China, training teachers on innovative pedagogical approaches to language learning. Na has a series of Chinese textbooks published around the world that incorporate research based benefits of using visual cues for long term linguistic retention. Much of her work has been around building learning communities. Whether it’s creating free musical showcases for children in her hometown or running after-school fashion design programs, Na is passionate about giving every child an opportunity to access creative tools and explore their interests. She graduated from Parsons School of Design, and also has a BA in English Education from Ningxia University. She currently resides in Ningxia, China with her husband, daughter, and mini family of adopted pets.
